Binance Spot Fees: Finding Your Own Rate Before You Trade
There is no single Binance spot fee. The rate depends on your VIP level, whether your order rests or crosses, and the pair you trade. This guide shows where each of those is decided, then turns your own rate into the two numbers that matter: what a round trip costs and how far price has to move to cover it.

Key takeaways
- Binance prices spot trades from a VIP tier table, so the rate on the page is a range rather than a number that applies to everyone.
- Maker and taker rates differ because one order rests in the book and the other removes liquidity from it.
- Your 30-day volume is normally what moves you between VIP levels; a new account starts at the base level.
- The trading fee is one line of the cost. Spread, conversion and withdrawal charges sit outside it.
- Binance changes fee schedules and promotions, so the only rate worth calculating with is the one shown in your own account on the day you trade.
The fee page is a table of tiers, not a price list
Binance’s spot fee page is built around VIP levels. Each level carries a maker rate and a taker rate, and the level is normally assigned from 30-day trading volume with a separate path for accounts that hold a qualifying balance. A new account starts at the base level, which is why the first number a reader finds in a blog post often does not match the number on their own statement.
That structure has a practical consequence: any specific percentage quoted without a tier is incomplete. This article therefore does not print a Binance rate. It shows where the rate comes from and how to use the one your account displays.
Maker and taker decide which column applies
Every spot order is charged as one of two things.
- A maker order rests in the order book and adds liquidity. It is charged the maker rate, which is usually the lower of the two.
- A taker order matches immediately against a resting order and removes liquidity. It is charged the taker rate.
The order type does not decide this by itself. A limit order placed at the best available price can execute on arrival, in which case it is a taker order despite the label. A limit order placed away from the touch will rest and become a maker order if it fills later. If your fill report shows a different rate than you expected, check whether the order rested at all.
The filters that decide whether the order exists
Fees only apply to orders the venue accepts. Binance’s public exchange information endpoint exposes the filters for each pair, and they are worth reading before sizing a trade. On BTCUSDT, read on 2026-10-17, the relevant values were:
| Filter | Value | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
PRICE_FILTER |
tick size 0.01 USDT | The smallest price increment an order may use |
LOT_SIZE |
step 0.00001 BTC | The quantity increment for resting orders |
NOTIONAL |
minimum 5 USDT | The smallest order value, applied to market orders too |
Two costs follow from this table rather than from the fee schedule. First, an order below the minimum notional is rejected, so a plan that depends on many tiny orders may not be executable. Second, price and quantity are rounded to the allowed increments, and that rounding can move the effective price of a small order by more than the fee does.
Turning your rate into a break-even move
Once you have the two rates that apply to you, the rest is arithmetic:
- Entry fee = notional at entry × rate paid on entry.
- Exit fee = notional at exit × rate paid on exit.
- Break-even move ≈ entry rate + exit rate + the spread you crossed.
If both sides were charged 0.10% and the spread cost 0.02%, price would need to rise about 0.22% on a long before the position covered its costs. On a 2,000 USDT order that is roughly 4.40 USDT, which is small in isolation and large when repeated fifty times in a week.
The trading fee calculator performs this with your own rates and returns the round-trip cost directly. It also shows how a fee discount, if one applies to your account, changes the break-even point.
The costs the fee page does not contain
A Binance spot fee is one line in a larger bill. Three others are easy to miss:
- The spread. It is not a fee and it is not on the schedule. It is the gap between the best bid and the best ask, and it is paid on every market order and every marketable limit order.
- Conversion. If the asset you deposit is not the asset you trade, a conversion step can sit between them. Convert quotes a rate rather than charging a visible trading fee, and the cost is inside the quote.
- Withdrawal. This is charged per asset and per network, in the asset itself, and it does not scale down with a small withdrawal. Moving 20 USDT off a venue can cost a much larger share of the amount than moving 20,000.
A short checklist before the next trade
- Read the maker and taker rates shown in your own account, not a rate remembered from last year.
- Decide whether the order will rest or cross, and size the expected fee from that.
- Check the pair’s minimum notional and quantity step if the order is small.
- Measure the spread on the pair you are about to trade.
- Add any withdrawal or conversion cost if the plan includes moving the asset afterwards.
Risk note. This is an explanation of how exchange fees are structured, not investment advice and not a recommendation of Binance or any other venue. A lower fee does not make a trade profitable: crypto assets can fall sharply, and on a leveraged position a loss can exceed the cost difference by a wide margin.

Frequently asked questions
What is Binance's spot trading fee?
Binance does not publish one flat spot rate. Its fee page sets out a VIP tier table with separate maker and taker rates, and the rate that applies to you depends on your tier and on how the order executes. Read the rate from your own account rather than from a third-party summary, because tiers and promotions change.
Why did my limit order pay the taker fee?
A limit order pays the maker rate only if it rests in the order book without matching. If you place a limit order at a price that already has a resting order on the other side, it executes on arrival and is charged as a taker.
Does holding BNB reduce the fee?
Binance has offered fee discounts for paying fees in BNB, but the terms, the eligible accounts and the discount rate are set by Binance and have changed over time. Check the fee page and the promotion terms attached to your account instead of assuming a discount applies.
Is the minimum order size a fee?
No, but it determines whether a trade can happen at all. On BTCUSDT the exchange's public filters set a minimum notional of 5 USDT and a quantity step of 0.00001 BTC, so a very small order is rejected before any fee is charged.
How do I calculate a round trip?
Add the entry fee and the exit fee, both taken from the notional value at the time each fill happens, then add the spread you crossed. The percentage move needed to break even is approximately the sum of the two fee rates plus the spread, which is why frequent trading multiplies a small-looking rate.
